David Caruso retired April 1st 2018 as Senior Vice President for Stewart’s Shops. Throughout his 32-year career with Stewart’s he was instrumental in its development into one of the nation’s largest family and employee owned convenience store chains.
He remains on Stewart’s Board of Directors and works part-time on real estate ventures with the company through his consulting firm, Lakeside Business Advisors LLC.
Dave is active with NYACS ( New York Association of Convenience Stores) and was recently inducted into the NY Convenience Store Hall of Fame. He also participates in NACS shows and events. Learning and growing by visiting other chains and sharing ideas and practices is ongoing with David.
As a young teenager, Caruso worked in his family’s Lake George NY restaurant. He later became a supermarket manager with Grand Union Co., and then an Account Manager for Brach’s Candy Co. of Chicago covering northeastern New York and Vermont.
He joined Stewart’s in 1986, first as a District Field Auditor, then as a District Manager, and later Vice President and ultimately Senior Vice President.
Throughout his life and career, David has been involved in many non-profit organizations. He currently is on the Glens Falls Hospital Foundation Board of Directors and is serving on the hospitals investment committee. Past affiliations include the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce, the United Way of Ulster County, and the WGHQ Happy Christmas Fund Inc.
Dave and his wife Carol reside in Lake George N.Y. and have two children and three grandchildren.
